What is all this talk about Cloud computing, Cloud storage and Cloud applications?
The symbol for the Internet in a computer flow diagram is a "cloud."
The first use of the term that we know of was when James Urquhart quoted Google's Eric Schmidt in a ZDNet article, August 2006. The quote is a nice summary.
"It starts with the premise that the data services and architecture should be on servers. We call it cloud computing - they should be in a "cloud" somewhere. And that if you have the right kind of browser or the right kind of access, it doesn't matter whether you have a PC or a Mac or a mobile phone or a BlackBerry or what have you - or new devices still to be developed - you can get access to the "cloud."

- Dragging and dropping a file into your Cloud Hero virtual drive automatically uploads a copy to the appropriate cloud storage service(s) without a login function
